MG Gloster Teased

The Gloster is expected to be the fourth Indian model of MG Motor, a full-size 7-seat SUV unveiled at Auto Expo 2020. Not many details have been disclosed at the stage, but we now have the first verified teaser from the Indian-spec Gloster and it seems it will be equipped with some impressive technological firsts for its section.

MG’s Gloster is now on sale in numerous overseas countries, with specific labels and badges. The India-spec teaser shows some of the technological highlights for functions such as adaptive stability control, lane safety and automated emergency braking, using radar-based technology. This is also seen as having some kind of auto parking aid.

The automatic emergency braking system detects an unforeseen obstruction or a vehicle standing in front of it and stops faster than a human driver. However, active cruise control can render the Gloster an absolute marvel for motorway driving because it can adjust the direction of the car and maintain a safe distance from the front driver slowing down while it reduces direction and accelerates to the ideal cruising speed before it goes further forward. The lane keep assist sends a alert when the vehicle veers out of the designated path. The international-spec variant of the Gloster has received a 5-star ranking in ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Programme) accident assessments.

Since the Gloster will have to contend with the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner likes, their autonomous software is a move forward. Other technologies that could be expected to be included include a 360-degree camera view, an 8.0-inch interactive multi-info (MID) monitor inside the instrument panel, a 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment device, ambient lighting and leatherette upholstery.
