Lamborghini new hypercar
Lamborghini is planning to launch a new model on Wednesday-the second after early May’s restart of operations. The trailer showed clues that it might be a version of last year’s announced 820hp Sián FKP 37 hypercar. A teaser picture shared on Twitter offers nothing in terms of design hints but reveals that the latest car has distinctive air-channeling winglets such as those on the Sián ‘s rear.
The darkened rear shot posted on the company web site is more revealing. When brightened, we can easily see that the as-yet-unnamed car would have the same hexagonal exhaust tips, six braking lights and tail-fins as the Sián, which definitely suggests that this model would be a variant.
The Sián FKP 37 is still the most powerful production car built by Lamborghini, as well as the first hybrid made by the Italian brand. Named in tribute to late Volkswagen Group boss Ferdinand Piëch, it combines an upgraded version of the Aventador’s naturally aspired 6.5-liter V12 petrol engine with a small electric motor for a combined 820hp system output and the ability to conduct low-speed maneuvers under electric power.
As well as being able to accelerate from 0-100kph in less than 2.8sec and achieve a peak speed of more than 349kph, the Sián will gain from an electrically aided power boost from its supercapacitor package with speeds of up to 130kph. This also gives a smoother acceleration curve by mitigating deceleration effects during gear shifts.
The track-only SCV12, built by Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse racing team, is also tipped for an imminent unveiling. Loading 830hp-plus from a similarly updated 6.5-liter V12, the limited-run edition is said to expect a Lamborghini entry at Le Mans’ 24 Hours in 2021.
Pictures of the SCV12 in intense camouflage show that it has a large traditional rear wing, circular exhaust tips and wide rear air pipes, so it’s impossible to be the one that will be unveiled at 9:30pm India time on Wednesday.
