Toyota Urban Cruiser
Toyota is expected to enter the Urban Cruiser in India with sub-4 m SUV range. Throughout the second half of August, our distributor sources have now indicated that the carmaker is expected to launch bookings. The SUV is the second model to be produced for India under the collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki, and will be focused on the facelifted Maruti Vitara Brezza.
While the Toyota Glanza has something in common with the Maruti Baleno (except for the badges), the Urban Cruiser is not going to be a mirror image of the Maruti Vitara Brezza. To differentiate it from the Maruti brand, it’ll presumably have a distinct front fascia. We do plan to sell it in multiple colors to further emphasize the differentiation.
The feature set of the Urban Cruiser will be exchanged with its donor SUV which will include climate control, auto AC, a 7-inch Apple CarPlay which Android Auto touchscreen infotainment system, and rain detecting wipers. Compared with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the interior is expected to get a dual-tone scheme, Toyota badges and new upholstery.
Toyota would sell the sub-4 m SUV with the 1.5-liter Vitara Brezza petrol engine (105PS/138Nm) with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox to chose from. Also, the Urban Cruiser may get the mild-hybrid tech from Suzuki which provides enhanced fuel efficiency.
